...where bad hippies babble (endlessly) about knitting, kids, cats, men, books, and yeah...more knitting. Come for the humor, but stick around for the karmic insight.

Me? Publish a Blog?

Why start a blog when you don't have a digital camera to liven the thing up with pictures?

Well, I say, why not?

I've been reading blogs ever since I stumbled across the Yarn Harlot's knitting site more than a year ago, and I enjoy them a whole lot. In fact, I start my day with a triple shot of Dooce followed by a quick laugh over at Go Fug Yourself. I have lunch with the Harlot and some other knitting buddies, and end my day by checking in with Zoe in Belgium.

Hmmph, you say. What's up with this blog thing? Isn't it a little, well, self-indulgent? Who reads those things anyway? Lots of folks, apparently. It's a neat phenomenon, really. I learned some excellent knitting techniques from several cyberspace buddies, picked up some good book-reading suggestions, and have definitely had my eyes opened to the whole mommy-blog phenomenon. It's kind of cool to know you're not alone in the world with all your issues and quirks. Other folks have dirty secrets, too, and they're publishing them on the Internet!

Blogs are funny. I won't keep a journal to save my life, no matter how many therapists or friends tell me it's a good idea. I will, however, spill my guts to a computer screen, where anyone I know from work or god(dess) forbid MY FAMILY can stumble across it and learn bad things about me. Hmmm. I never would have dreamed of sharing my diary with strangers when I was 8 years old, but then again...I didn't have nearly as many interesting things to share as I do now.

So, welcome to Bad Hippie, No Patchouli, where we will discuss knitting, kids, cats, boyfriends, knitting, and some more knitting, with a healthy dose of humor, curse words, and zany fun all thrown in.

You may talk amongst yourselves now, Internet. I'm here to stay. Get used to it.

My husband has cornered the market on patchouli, so it is no wonder you don't have any. Are you more of a sandlewood girl? *grin*. Welcome to blogdom - from another hippie.
